W/C Could See 20 Percent Drop in New Injury Claims
The coronavirus pandemic could lead to 20 percent fewer new injury claims within workers’ compensation this year, a survey by Health Strategy Associates found. New workers' comp claims have recently declined by as much as half, and most leaders in the sector think a significant volume of coronavirus claims is unlikely, according to the survey.
The survey found that most leaders in the workers comp industry do not expect to see a significant number of COVID-19 claims. The survey participants also noted that the pandemic has led to explosive growth in telemedicine and that they believe the use of telehealth and telephonic case management will have a positive impact on the workers comp industry.
