Insurance Industry Gains 4,700 Jobs in July
The insurance industry continued to show strength absent in other sectors of the pandemic-affected economy in July, adding 4,700 jobs according to statistics released by the U.S. Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics reported by AM Best.
The BLS reports insurance industry total employment monthly on a seasonally adjusted basis. Separately, data by insurance industry segment — broken out by various insurance carrier and non-carrier categories — is available only on an unadjusted basis for the prior month. Six of eight job sectors showed gains in June compared with May, while two of eight job sectors showed losses. One sector showing a loss was insurance agencies and brokerages, down 0.31 percent with 844,100 jobs.
