Marco and Laura are a couple on a trip through the Gulf Coast of the United States. But they are not newlyweds on a honeymoon – even though they just found each other and are taking their trip together. Marco and Laura are two tropical storms close together headed in the same general direction, a very unusual weather phenomenon.

The first of the one-two tropical storm punch forecast to hit the coast of Louisiana turned out to be a bit of a dud on the afternoon of August 24 as Hurricane Marco sputtered and weakened to a tropical storm. But Tropical Storm Laura is delivering a stronger punch to the Lake Charles, Louisiana area.
