Millions of COVID-19 survivors are expected to face long-term medical problems from the illness but the effect of complications on mortality is not known. A Bloomberg article states that life insurance companies do not have the risk data generally used to make decisions about which applicants to accept, so survivors are either finding it more difficult to obtain life insurance or having to pay more for more limited coverage. The article summarizes cases of some COVID-19 survivors who had applications rejected and details some restrictions put in place by some life insurers.
