Agent to Agent: 3 Reasons to Share Your Community Efforts via Social Media

As an insurance agency owner, it is not always easy to keep up with blogging, social media and other marketing efforts. After all, we ARE selling insurance! However, both I and the agents at Paradiso Insurance have come to find that taking an interest in more than just selling policies will benefit a great deal. Our agency is constantly giving back to the community by getting involved and making a name for ourselves in our area. This is not only a great way to get involved, but it builds company morale and a stronger bond with locals.

To those of you who are already running food drives, holding fundraisers and participating in local events - good for you! This is a great start to branding your company’s name in a positive way. The next step is to share your efforts on your social media accounts.

There are three very important reasons as to why you should:

  1. Your name will be seen. The more that your agency participates and donates, the more frequently your agency’s name will be exposed to potential clients. Those who connect with you at the event may even find you on Facebook, Twitter or tag you in pictures and posts. This is a great way to build your brand and your name. Word of mouth is not dead and word of mouth via internet has just begun!
  2. Showcase community involvement. By showcasing your involvement on social media, you may generate more likes, RTs, and possibly even a share or two. The more your content is noticed and shared, the more likely others will catch on and follow. Be sure to post pictures, check-in and even take efforts as far as “live tweeting” from the event.
  3. Inspire others. Advertise events and community involvement to inspire others. You never know who will be touched by your efforts and will jump on the bandwagon.

By participating in local events, you are creating shareable and UNIQUE content for your social media networks! Take pictures at the event, interview attendees, ask questions… all of these things can be included in a weekly blog post, Tweets, or Facebook statuses.
