Agent to Agent: Believe and Your Agency Will Succeed

Let me ask you a question: Do you believe in your products and services? Here’s another: Do your agents believe in your products and services? If you have answered “no” to either of these questions, your agency is in critical danger of failing.

Yes, you heard me! Failing. How do you expect consumers to believe in your products and services if YOU, the agency owner, do not believe in them? The sad truth is, many agencies are failing in the economy today due to a lack of belief and a bad attitude towards change. Local agencies across the nation are feeling the extreme stress and pressure — from higher competition to shrinking numbers and business. This ultimately leads to a negative work environment and will reflect negatively on the agency itself.

As the owner of an independent insurance agency, I am here to tell you that IT IS GOING TO BE OKAY — as long as you believe. Belief is everything! If you begin to truly believe in your products and services, as well as the belief of achieving your goals, you will find that it is much easier to not only SELL your product, but to KEEP your customers. A positive attitude will yield positive results — and our agency is proof of this.

You may be hesitant to embrace change, but why? Do you believe that change will help your agency? Do you believe in change, at all? We all need change in order to grow. If you can put your stubborn attitude behind and BELIEVE that change will improve your book of business, you will be on the road to success.

Remember, you must also inspire your employees to believe in change. How? Here are a few tips:

  • Create a vision and share it with your agency. Once everyone is aware of the vision, everyone can work towards it.
  • Motivate your employees to believe — whether that means you give recognition when appropriate or hold quick “pep rallies” to motivate first thing in the morning.
  • Be as approachable as possible. If your team has ideas for growth or change, listen!

How do I know all of this? Simple. My agency changed. My agency embraced the changing of times and technology. My agency found a way to BELIEVE in these changes and BELIEVE in our products, services, and business, all over again. If you can do this, you will no longer be in critical danger of failing. You can only go up!

So, I have one last question for you: Do you believe?
